Rob Hennig knows what it is like to be a zealous advocate for people. As a lawyer, a university teacher, and an activist, he has pursued a varied and successful career of service.
As the founding and managing partner of Hennig Kramer Ruiz & Singh, LLP, Rob Hennig has represented exclusively individuals in litigation. He has taken numerous cases to judgment including bench trials, jury trials and in arbitration and has recovered over $10 million in settlements and judgments for his clients.
Some of his victories include:
- Representing multiple individuals in qui tam actions based on the Federal False Claims Act that helped recover over $750 million to the United States Government
- Single-plaintiff sexual orientation and national origin harassment case that settled for $1.5 million in 2014
- Single-plaintiff wrongful termination and retaliation case that settled for $500,000 in 2014
- Single-plaintiff gender discrimination and retaliation case that settled for $500,000 in 2014
- Brake v. Cal. Dept. of Transportation: single-plaintiff jury trial resulting in a judgment of over $997,000 in 2013
- Single-plaintiff disability discrimination, harassment, and retaliation case that settled for $560,000 in 2013
- Single-plaintiff race discrimination and harassment case that settled for $550,000 in 2012
Kamali v. Cal. Dept. of Transportation: single-plaintiff jury trial resulting in a judgment of $1.8 million in 2012
- Single-plaintiff sexual orientation harassment case that settled for $1.5 million in 2010
Rob has argued before multiple courts of appeal for the State of California and the federal Ninth Circuit Court of Appeal. The firm’s active appellate practice demonstrates a refusal to accept a judge’s adverse ruling as the final word in a case.
Rob’s active appellate practice is an example of the zealous representation and sophistication of advocacy on behalf of his clients.
Mr. Hennig has been quoted in the local and national media on a variety of political and legal topics.
He has also presented at various legal education programs including the Los Angeles County Bar Association, the California Employment Lawyers Association, the Beverly Hills Bar Association, the Orange County Employment Lawyers, and the Los Angeles Employment Lawyers group (LEFTJAW).
For over a decade, Rob taught courses in Constitutional law and judicial politics at UCLA, including the first-ever LGBT politics course at UCLA.
Rob has also appeared at numerous national and regional academic conferences and presented academic papers on a variety of legal and political topics.
Devoting time to public service, Rob has served on the Board of Directors of the American Civil Liberties Union of Southern California including past President of its Lesbian and Gay Rights Chapter. Rob was also the founding Co-Chair of the Board of Directors of what is now Equality California, the largest LGBT state advocacy organization in the country.
He continues to serve as a volunteer attorney for the Los Angeles Gay & Lesbian Center’s Legal Referral Program and has also assisted several non-profit organizations pro bono to receive a determination of tax-exempt status from the Internal Revenue Service.
